The baking has begun and is actually just about done. It is a tradition in our home to bake quite a bit of goodies during Christmas time and share with our friends. One of my favorites is the cut-out cookies we make (otherwise known as sugar cookies, but I always called them cut out cookies and it seems to have stuck.) I don’t even know where the recipe I have came from except that I got it from my Mom years ago and it is the one she used when I was growing up. It’s a good one. I thought I would share it with you:
Cut Out Cookies 2/3 cup shortening 3/4 cup sugar 1/2 tsp. vanilla 1 egg 4 tsp. milk 2 cups flour 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. salt Cream shortening, sugar, vanilla and egg. Stir in milk. Sift dry ingredients and blend into cream mixture. Cut the dough and chill dough for 1 hour. After the dough has chilled, roll out and cut out your favorite holiday shapes and bake at 350 degrees for about 10 minutes.Cody and Alice ended up with a little bit of flour on them and made their own “signature” cookies
Cody and Jonathan joined in…after the Chargers won!
The cookie cutters are too cute! Everyone looks like they’re having so much fun. Now, I’m in the mood to bake, too! mmm
These are fun family traditions to never give up at Christmas. Dad and I just made our fudge for the holidays and it actually turned out this year!!! It looks like great fun was had by all!!!
LOVE your candy canes sign above the stove! lol!! 🙂
This is a tradition I’d love to have with Tristan… so much fun. I may need more than this one recipe to start with!
