Being a mother is the single most beautiful and authentic gift I have ever been blessed with and on this day I wanted to celebrate all the Mom’s that have given me the honor of capturing their most precious gift…
As is per usual my family got put on the back burner so I am finally posting our family Christmas in Texas…and for the second year in a row my family gathered in the big TX for Christmas and for the second year in a row my hubby Jonathan got a cruiseship gig and was unable to join us (double sad face!) So since “most” of us were together we headed to downtown Richmond on Christmas day (which worked out to our advantage as we had the streets to ourselves and this was the only day my beautiful niece Emily was going to be in town.) It was a cold morning and my family is not AT ALL used to the cold weather. So we managed to take a few shots, hopefully without everyone looking like they are shivering, and enjoyed our precious family time together! I wonder where will be next December…
Some people are just natural, unassuming and comfortable and when you are in their presence they make you feel the same way-and that is the Wheaton family. When I arrived at the Wheaton’s beautiful home I took one look at their backyard and just knew that’s where we had to do their newborn session for their daughter Harper. It was a gorgeous Florida morning-perfect weather, low humidity and that sun coming through the trees providing that perfect light. Now there is absolutely no other feeling in the world like hanging out with a newborn and Harper is as precious as they come. Thank you Tom and Devon for sharing her with me for a few hours and now I get to share her with you…
Daddy’s Girl… Tom is an avid poker player and even has a “Poker Room” so Harper joined in on a hand of poker with her Daddy…
This post has been a long time coming…but it got a tad bit busy during the holidays and at the first of the year-so, I finally had the chance to put this post together. Last summer I was the photographer for the Harry Potter conference called LeakyCon, which was held in Orlando. For the five days I shot that conference I was surrounded by all that is Harry Potter. Jonathan, Cody and I even took Sorting Hat House quizzes to determine what house we belonged to. I got inspired. On one of the last days of the conference I headed into the vendor room and not only purchased my first ever “Starkid” t-shirt but also our respective house ties! A Harry Potter inspired Christmas family photo shoot at the downtown Orlando Church Street train was forming. I asked my wonderful friend Tara Sproc, a fellow photographer, if she could shoot the photos. I shot a few myself of Jonathan and Cody and then Tara took over to shoot our family ones. I used a few of the images for our Christmas card and made a storyboard as well but finally get to share more of my favorites… I cannot thank Tara enough (and this is how Jonathan thanked her!) She is sweet, adorable and my friend!Storyboards make great wall displays (especially when you have more than one image you want to display!) And they make great gifts!
