LeakyCon 2011 | Opening Night and the Wizarding World of Harry Potter

So let’s go back to the beginning. The beginning of LeakyCon 2011. LeakyCon fans began arriving at the Royal Pacific Hotel all week just waiting…waiting for the opening festivities to kick everything off on Wednesday night. The Opening Festivities featured some very special guests, such as Harry & The Potters, Potter Puppet Pals, Team StarKid and Hank Green (just to name a few!) After Melissa Anelli, Headmistress of this whole shabang, kicked off the conference, everyone headed over to Universal’s Islands of Adventure to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter for the Open at the Close! Yes, the entire Wizarding World was opened just for LeakyCon. DJ’s, cash bar, an English fare of food and desserts, Butterbeer and pumpkin juice galore-now this was a party to beat all parties! And a surprise to all fans…Evanna Lynch, who plays Luna Lovegood, made an appearance and participated in a special podcast with the LeakyCon head staff.

So I had my share of frozen Butterbeer, tried pumpkin juice (not my thing!), hung out with amazing Potter fans and took some pictures…

LeakyCon 2011 | Wizard Rock Night and the Deathly Hallows Party

This is the first of several LeakyCon 2011 posts to come. It’s the only way I can do this amazing event justice. So for those of you reading this that are wondering, “What is LeakyCon?” Here is the answer straight from the LeakyCon website:

LeakyCon 2011 is the second conference from LeakyNews.com, focused on the canon and community of Harry Potter. It is a charity conference. In short, it is what happens when the best academic minds in the Harry Potter fandom and its most dedicated fans come together to create a canon-centricenvironment in which all of us can learn, talk, and play.

So this first post features the Wizard Rock Night and the Deathly Hallows Party that took place on Thursday evening shortly after everyone saw an early premier of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part II. This first Wizard Rock Night (yes, there was a second!) featured the following wizard bands:

MC Kreacher • House of Black • Justin Finch-Fletchley and the Sugar Quills • The Moaning Myrtles • The Remus Lupins • Ministry of Magic

The Duff Family | Orlando Family Photographer

The Duff Family were on vacation from Canada and visiting sunny Florida. Erin had contacted me before their trip to arrange to have some family photos taken while they were here and we pretty quickly settled on the beach. When Erin contacted me she also told me that she was, herself, a professional photographer in Canada. Erin owns Simple Elegance Photography and shoots weddings, portraits, families and newborns as well so I was super excited to meet her and her family. We met at the beach in the morning so they could enjoy the rest of their day just relaxing and hanging out at the beach (I figured they may need that after the few days they had already had at the theme parks!) We had a blast just walking the beach(Erin and I talking shop) and then finally letting loose, going for it and letting the waves come crashing in! So here is the Duff Family…

Joe: Senior 2011 | Orlando Senior Photographer

We’ve known the Tribou family since the very first day we moved here to Orlando and enjoy, on a regular basis, the best sub sandwich ever at their restaurant Larkins Famous Subs (located off of McCoy Road on Daetwyler-if you care to venture this way to have an absolutely amazing sub sandwich.) So when it came time for Joe’s senior photo shoot what better place than right in our neighborhood, Belle Isle and then in their backyard-right on the lake. And now Joe (along with Cody) will be headed off to Florida State University this fall. Joe has informed me that they will be partying studying a lot! I look forward to hearing about their adventures but for now here is Joe:
