It’s a place where industry professionals can work one-on-one with the next generation of up-and-coming performers. Most of all, BroadwayCon is a place where fans can come together, celebrate their passions and revel in the magic that is the theatre.”
This year was the third year of the event and the third year I have had the very cool privilege of photographing all the fun. Being an event photographer I get to experience every aspect of the convention from what is happening on stage, the excitement and reaction of the fans and the hard work that goes on behind the scenes to make everything happen. BroadwayCon 2018 took place at the Javits Convention Center in New York City. Some of the highlights of the convention included Lin Manuel-Miranda and the cast of In the Heights on stage for a reunion, an entire stage full of fans doing their very own sing-a-long, Jenn Colella (currently starring in Come From Away) again hosting BroadwayCon’s version of Family Feud, the Blizzard Hotline (which came to be due to the 2016 Blizzard in NYC which snowbound the Broadway guests so FaceTime calls were made for the fans) and Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez (Oscar Award winners) singing and sharing their music writing process for Frozen and the new songs they are writing for the Broadway version!
